There is an airport hotel you can use: the Regal Airport, which has standard room rates starting at 1,700 Hong Kong dollars, currently (until March 31, 2002) on offer at 1,150 Hong Kong dollars plus tax. If you are prepared to go into Hong Kong, you will of course have a far wider range of choice, from youth hostels and the YMCA/YWCA to luxury hotels. There is an extremely fast and convenient train service to Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, or you can take a bus, which is much cheaper and has soft seats and plenty of luggage space. If you take the train to Hong Kong station, there are free buses to several major hotels (not just the most expensive ones) and you can take a taxi quickly and cheaply to nearby hotels. You will probably have to pay for one night (remember to ask for early check-in or late check-out, as appropriate). There are some Japanese-style "love hotels" on the Kowloon side which may charge low rates for a very short stay, but these tend to be out of the way--and you may find the décor not conducive to sleep.
