Terror suspect arrested

Detectives have arrested a 30-year-old man in London under the Terrorism Act.

The arrest came after a request from the FBI in America was followed up, Scotland Yard said on Wednesday.

A BBC correspondent said the man was being questioned in connection with the 11 September attacks in New York and Washington.

The man was held at 1000 GMT at a house in Tooting, south London, by officers from the Metropolitan Police Anti-Terrorist Branch.

He is currently being interviewed at Paddington Green police station, in central London, a police spokesman said.

The arrest was made under Section 40 of the Terrorism Act 2000, which relates to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
