grain mill question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

My sister sold her Kitchen Aide stand mixer to me before they left for mission work in Africa. It has the grain mill attatchment that I want to use (she gave me wheat, too). I have no clue how to use it as there are no instructions. Any suggestions?

Obveious the mill attachment must attach with the fill hole upward, look for matching bolt holes in it, you may have to unscrew the blade head to install the mill. I have not seen one in years so go ask a granny!

I have a Kitchen Aid and went and got the booklet. It say to unscrew the attachment knob in front. Place the power shaft(the point that goes in!) of the grain mill into the Hub Socket(the hole) It says you might have to rotate until it slides in.Tighten attachment knob by turning clockwise until attachment is secured.(OH, unplug before you do this!!!). On the grain mill the speeds are the on the front just like the regular hooks. It does give 1-800-541-6390 to call for informational leaflets. Hope this helps.God Bless
