Mortgage deeds & land registry

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

21 months into the chase, my case has now been put into the hands of the DLA "collections manager", a Mr Akbar.

He claims that in order to prove the alledged debt, they need to provide me with 3 pieces of documentation. The mortgage deed, terms & conditions or clauses and a list of transactions.

I have had the latter two (although the conditions are illegible), they will be sending the mortgage deed once they have obtained it from, of all places, land registry.

My question, I thought land registry only held title deeds which I presume is a piece of paper with details of lender, purchaser and any extra charges on the property (please correct me if I'm wrong), and that the mortgage deeds are kept in storage by the lender somewhere under a mountain of boxes containing the same.
