Problems with all O1 Rygar recordings

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MARP Editors : One Thread

There is a problem with all 4 of the o1-rygar recordings:

The scores by the top 3 players used Easy difficulty setting instead of Normal.

The 4th placed score did correctly use Normal difficulty, but they also turned off the allow continue option which is contrary to the settings specified for the Olympiad but would likely not have given them any advantage in respect to difficulty.

I have to DQ the 1st three place scores but I want your opinion on the final score for this game.

I've never played this game for real, however i don't see how turning "off" the allow continue option would give them an advantage if it refers to continuing the game with more credits, especialy when the setting used "stops" continuing.

Oh crap...........

Now that I've DQ'd these scores, Francois tells me he's agreed to a dipswitch setting change, and it's ignoring my request to change the score back from 0 to a larger score.

Can someone else help me re-instate these? Pete maybe?

Al:- 5,372,670 Innuendo:- 4,638,130 Francois:- Hm.... the zero score is being hidden by his 25k score....

Cheers, BeeJay.

Chad,

Thanks for your help - I had already thought of trying to negative and/or *delete the 25k recording of Francois to get access back to his 4.2 million one.

I also found out that you can "un-zero" the recording if you leave out the commas in the score - go figure.

PS: That's the last time I spend a few minutes with a hex editor working out what bytes are changed by changing dipswitch settings if it's all a waste of time in the long run due to unknown changes in rules!! :(
