Here's a web address for building youre own pond de-icer.I am going to build one and give it a try in my stock tank,It'll be alot more efficient than the typical 1000+ watt ones(if it works),although it will have to be modified a little.Thought others may be interested. I couldn't visited the site you said but, I usually have my pump rough up the surface of the pond. I have the hose just to the water level and it keeps the water moving so it doesn't freeze. I have also heard of people using air bubbles to keep ice from forming. I was thinking of trying that this year.
