I just bought the sx-70, and pulling at the ribbed part on top does NOT open the camera. Must be jammed somewhere--can anyone offer any suggestions?

I am pulling directly UP at the back of the top thingy, but it really seems to be stuck...

Is there any way I can ease it up or check to see any areas that easily jam?
