divorce

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I got married in 1987 when I was 20 years old, the marriage lasted only a little more that a year, then I came to USA and my ex divorced me in 1993 in order to marry again. I married in 2001 and have a child. My husband wants to get marry in the Catholic church. Can I get the nullity to marry him. I did not have children from my first marriage and I don't even know where is my ex.

Hello, Diana.

So that a simple, straightforward answer can be given, please supply a few pieces of information:
1. When you were 20 in 1987, what was your religion?
2. In 1987, what was your husband's religion?
3. In 1987, where did the ceremony take place -- Catholic church, other church, neither?
4. If one of you was not Catholic in 1987, and if you did not marry in a Catholic church, did the Catholic party have his/her bishop's permission to do this?
5. The new man in your life (whom I assume to be Catholic) -- was he ever married before? If so, please explain.

Thank you.
John
