Raisin Bread Recipe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hi, I'm looking for a Raisin Bread Recipe. I used to have my grandmother's and it was an easy one, but it has been years and now I can not seem to locate it and no one else in our family seems to know what happened to her recipe books. I have an Amish Friendship starter and wondered what would happen if I added raisins, it already contains cinammon. Thanks in advance for any responses!

Hi Ruthie, I have a recipe that I have used with my bread maker that makes great raisin bread using the bread maker, I don't know of any reason why it would not make great raisin the real way. I'll look it up it you if you don't get another one that you can use. I also don't know of any reason why the Friendship bread couldn't have raisins added to it and make great bread with that recipe. Anyway I'll look up my recipe and keep it by the "puter" for a few days if you need it let me know.

I use my wheat bread recipe. Roll it out in a rectangle like you would do for cinnamon rolls. Butter the rectangle, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top of that and then sprinkle raisins. Can also sprinkle nuts on there too. YUM! Then roll it up jelly roll style, slice into loaf size and place in your bread pans to raise. When it comes out of the oven butter the top and it will make the crust more tender. My kids love that stuff!
