"World's Best Pumpkin Pie"

My family always used the "World's Best Pumpkin Pie" recipe from the Oct/Nov 1979 (I think) Countryside for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we lost the recipe in a house fire. It had a caramelized nut topping and some sort of liqueur in the filling. If anyone has it, could you please post it or send it to me via e-mail? Thanks!

My sweet potatoe pie has a nice topping. 1/2 cup melted butter, 2/3 cup brown sugar packed, 1/3 cup flour and 1 cup chopped pecans. Crumble this mixture over the potatoe mixture (pumpkin would be fine also) and Bake. I would love to know the liqueur filling if somebody has it! I also love that this California transplant has a better sweet potatoe pie than my local East Texas friends do! :) Vicki

11 pm and the pecan and sweet potatoe pies just came out of the oven! YUM! Mash a large can of sweet potatoes, or boil yams till very soft and mash about 3 cups of them. In a big bowl combine 1 cup of sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Add the potatoes to the mixture and stir, I use my braun mixer to get all the lumps out, though some like the lumps in. Pour into a pie shell and top with the crumbly topping above. Bake for about 30 minutes at 350, add foil around the outside edge and back for another 30 minutes. It will appear not set in the middle, but it is. The crumbly pecan topping is also excellent on apple pie! Vicki

I have made this recipe for years and years and it is always a hit at the holidays. I use the exact same recipe for my sweet potatos that go into the oven to bake, but for the topping my recipe calls for 3/4 cup crushed corn flakes, the brown sugar,pecans, butter and cinnamon. It is so yummy I am craving it right now!!! I can't wait. ~Karole

I have a recipe for a crustless pumkin pie which is as good as the kind with crust and is low fat to boot if any one would be interested. also have a recipe for a low fAt [ 2 grams instead of 25].Turimusu which is to die for good.
