Thanksgiving ? What are you thankful for?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

For some on this forum and others i visit, some folks have had a hard time this yr with one thing or another. I just wondered what everyone else was thankful for this Tahnksgiving?

I am thankful for:

Being a born again Christain and having Jesus oin my life (Ken,.... please don't delete) *wink* Guess i will be thankful also if he doesn't, LOL:)

My health and my husbands, and kids and grandkids (2 legged of course!)

I am thankful for my children, grandkids and family who are also healthy.

then there are the 4 legged kind, my goats of course and my loyal faithful companion, my black lab, Ebony who is 12.

Hubby is thankful for the safe return of his favorite hunting dog, but he is gun shy, a stray puppy we found after we bought our farm in VA> he was oh so skinny. When we moved in May the doggone dog decided to visit the new "bitch" in the "hood" and missed his ride. We tried to find him along with our neighbors but he missed the move. Josh, our younger son found him 2 days later sleeping on the site where our mobile home was. He took care of him until we got here and could fly him, but then the embargo for hot weather hit and shipping animals was banned. Sooooo we decided to wait for the ban to lift in Sept, but 9/11 did that in. So when I made the trip last week to get the new Alpines I picked him up.

I am thankful we sold the farm in VA in early April, actually Friday the 13th and Good Friday as well. I about passed out when the realtor put the deal on the coffee table and said, full asking price, cash but one qlitch, had to give possession in 30 days. I am also thankful too becuase it sold because the land across the road, we lived on a dirt road there, was recently clear cut, made a huge mess, looked like a war zone. Then they also clear cut the woods in front os us, we had a acre for access, the property was an acre deep and 20 long. The local logging company sent out letters to all the property owners with timber in our county the summer of 2000 and the owners sdold, some ewalty dr near VA Tech about 5 hrs away. I was snoozing on that, cause if I'd known I would ahve mortaged the farm which wa sapid for to buy it before it was logged. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. The land across the road sold to a developer form Fla the following zMonday. I'm not sure what he will put there but I couldn't stand the thought of idiot neighbors in the boonies so we sold and used a competing realtor. i refused to pay 1,000 an acre for clear cut land, we only paid 300 in 95 for it.

I am thinakful for being blessed with the new farm and our Grade A Dairy and the beautiful home and the views of the lake. I always wanted to live on a mountain top and never thought it would happen, but it did.

this forum and all my goatie friends

I am thankful for my job and friends and.... well... you get the idea, could go on and on.

I'm thankful for the absolutely wonderful young man my daughter married in May.

I'm thankful my son has a great job lined up for his May graduation from Purdue University.

I'm thankful my daughter is doing well in her first year of law school at Indiana University.

I'm thankful I have the health and ability to earn a living.

I'm thankful for the partner I have in one business.

I'm thankful I don't have one in the other.

I'm thankful for a fine group of friends.

I'm thankful to be able to spend Thanksgiving with my Mom in her eighty-second year.

I'm thankful for the world in which I live... with all of it's flaws.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

First of all Im thankful like Bernice I am born again. This may be deleted MY favorite Verse in the Bible is 1 Thess.5:18 "In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." The reason it means so much to me is when I was born I was born with a bone missing in my leg, therefore the leg didnt grow correctly, and at the ripe old age of 12 I had it amputated below the knee. I thought my life was over, but it really had just begun. I went through the usual depression. A dream was to go into the Marine Corp. My father was in for 20 years and that is what I wanted todo, how ever that was impossible. My amuptation happened at the same time as the Viet Nam War and I met many of the troops coming back with legs and arms blown off. One fellow shot himself in the leg inorder to get out of Vietnam in the process he lost his leg, He cried everynight. Then I met a fellow that stepped on a mine and lost both legs and arms and he was so happy when they gave him his arms with the hooks. He would place pencils in each hook then type a letter home to his folks. He was thankful for the hooks. I'm thankful I only lost one leg. I am now in an Army of sorts. I pastor a church here in Missouri. Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving. dale

I am thankful for our land, which will bring more self reliance. And most of all, I am thankful for this great country, where we can all be so different from each other yet remain united in our belief in freedom of speech, religion and PURSUIT OF OUR DREAMS.

I am thankful for God & all that He has given me. Especially a wonderful husband & 5 great kids with #6 on the way. If you have anything negative to say about me having a 6th kid, keep it to yourself. I've heard it all & I'm tired of hearing it.

All true wealth is biological and it is the wealth that we possess for which we are thankful. My wife, child, myself and parents are healthy, we have each other and things are looking up. Been a rough ride at times but by and large it's been a pretty good year so we have much to be thankful for.
