Yes Rose, San Francisco to be exact; that one got swatted before it came up on my screen, I enter them and then go to my catagory in the old answers to read them, where they show up directly after posting. And it appears you need a new, search engine proof question. This one was just posted Wendesday with no responses, due to you not being at your puters because of Thanksgiving I assume, therefore: Can you find more than one word that uses the following letters, in the order given, as the last two letters of words in English? This is a two step thinking question, you were warned.....

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), November 24, 2001.

Fingers are faster than the brain this morning, the letters are: N L, E J, K V, C X, A Z, M W, G Q

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), November 24, 2001.

This one has been up there for more than 6 hours without even a nibble. I am asking for any words that end with the letters given. Is this one too hard or just look to intimidating?

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), November 24, 2001.

Mitch, I don't do the number or letter stumpers. My reaction to those is... who cares? When I took the GRE, there were logic questions about six teenagers who went to the amusement park to ride the roller coaster. Mary wouldn't sit with Bob, Bob liked Sue. Linda wouldn't sit in the front car, etc etc etc. And they wanted to know who sat in the left hand seat of the third car. I don't give a flying rat's tail feathers. LOL. However, if you give me a REAL trivia question, I find that entertaining.

-- Rose (open_rose@hotmail.com), November 24, 2001.

There is a problem with trivia questions and it is called search engines, I researched for over two hours to find something interesting to post and found that koala bears have finger prints simular to humans, and posted the question. In a matter of minutes the answer was posted, so I went into google and typed animal fingerprints, it poped up as the second listing, and there are other examples. Where did the answer of the first post this morning come from? Real knowledge or search engines? It would be useless to spend time searching out facts that are so easy to solve. So learn to think seperate of your puter and send me some of those flying rat tail feathers so I can decorate my hat. _o_^..^_o_

Mitch, I have had the flu all day and my husband is sending me back to bed soon. Don't give in on this one yet; it'll keep me entertained while I try to recover.

Cathy N. I am going to leave this one open, with out an answer, its my keyboard and if they don't want to play they can go home unanswered....

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), November 24, 2001.

Pizzaz! for the AZ one. I thought about these a lot the last time you posted it, but I am generally clue-less...

-- Melissa (me@home.net), November 24, 2001.

Mitch.... I enjoy the search engine treasure hunts! That is where I got the answer.

Topaz

-- DW (djwallace@ctos.net), November 24, 2001.

Rose, it is the search engines hunts that I want to avoid, you are letting your mind go in favor of letting a machine do your thinking. The word pazzaz is apparently too new to be in the lists I have access to, I was given TOPAZ as the word, can you find others minus the search engines? Did you not read the earliey posts?

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), November 24, 2001.

It might not even be a real word Mitch. I looked in my dictionary and it wasn't in there. But I have heard it many times. so I just don't know about that one.

-- Melissa (me@home.net), November 24, 2001.

O.K. Rose, you want to ignore real questions, I choose to ignore your answers as invalad entries, as I have done with others, go away and take your search engines with you, learn to think for yourself....

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), November 24, 2001.

Just thought i'd say hi, i'm really not in any state to guess anything other than my age. SO HI. I'm exhausted. I will take a better crack at it, some other time. Or read then answer tomorrow and feel very satisfied for a job well done.

Mitch, Mitch, Mitch... please, dear, don't be so quick to criticize. I was simply telling you that I don't care for some kinds of puzzles, and sharing my thoughts... yes, I read your other posts. But, I don't have to agree with your opinions. And your slamming me as being a lazy thinker is grossly unjust.

I had other things to do today than sit here at the computer. I tended my injured horse, pruned a satsuma orange tree, worked on a house remodeling job, washed my van, finished reading a book, cooked a pot of wild hog soup, washed laundry, etc etc etc.

My life is rich and full. I have the luxury of choosing what to think about and not think about. Mitch, I am not lazy, mentally or physically.

Well put Rose! I am the same way. While I try to read every post on this site, and am interested in all of them, I often don't have time to respond to each and every one.

The same with the stumpers, I love to read them and think about them through the day, but by the time I get a chance to really apply myself to figuring out the answer, someone has usually beat me to it.

-- Melissa (me@home.net), November 25, 2001.

Rose, the purpose of these stumpers is to creat a medium where I can demonstrate a method of connected thinking that is common in those whom are members of Mensa. Have you read all the stumpers? It was lain out earlier, telling what I am trying to accomplish. it tells what the tildes are for, I apply them in the clues whenever appropiate. To demonstrate this two step thinking, there must be interaction, search engines destroys it.

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), November 25, 2001.

Mitch, I am new to this forum, only been reading a few weeks. I don't know when you started the stumpers, so I don't know when you posted the 'rules' or what they are. For newbies like myself, please be gentle with your judgements and comments.

As for Mensa, I am not impressed. We have a teacher on campus who is a member, and he is smelly, disorganized, and offensive. Give me common sense any day.

Huggs, and hope you have a lovely Sunday.

-- Rose (open_rose@hotmail.com), November 25, 2001.

If you paid attention to the question close enough you will know that the correct answer is NO (Can you find more that one?) Topaz is the only offical word ending with the letters given.

-- mitch hearn (moopups@citlink.net), November 26, 2001.

You know I thought of that!! I just could not imagine any English word that could fit any of those letters. That was a tricky one Mitch!

-- Melissa (me@home.net), November 26, 2001.

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! Can I use the excuse of suffering from the flu for not being able to think clearly about that?

-- Cathy N. (keeper8@attcanada.ca), November 26, 2001.

Cathy, you have permission to use any excuse you can think of, but you must select someone who will believe it!

Melissa, your catching on, two step thinking is about seeing whats really there also; all the hype, the odd collection of letters, the capitalization, all was there to lead readers away from the little simple question. Kinda remindes you of politicans....
