Installing stove in outbuilding with corragated steel roof, How do I seal the 6in. pipe to keep water from running down pipe? I thought some kind of heat resistant caulk but not sure. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Might be better to triple wall and use a roof jack.

Its those @$$^%^& corregations that make the sealing difficult. Silicone is reportedly good for 450-500 degrees F. Thats what I'd try.

If that doesn't work try using a storm collar and pop riveting it down to the roof, making sure you use ample sealant in the gaps around the corregations.

That's why it's always better to exit the flue out a wall than the roof the roof overhang solves a lot to leak problems right there. But if you must, hammer flat the corregations around the flue flashing and roofing cement the heck out of it before you pop rivet the flashing down. double or triple wall flue is the safest in the event of a chiminey fire.

Gene, if your going through that roof with single wall pipe, remember you need to keep it at least 18 inches from anything combustible including trusses, rafters, etc. We use a high temp silicone on insulated class a pipe but it would never handle the temps of a single wall . Your probably looking at a huge amount of creosote if you go all the way with single wall. I'd recommend using an insulated pipe to penetrate the roof and then an aluminum flashing ( which is easy to snip and form around your roof ribs) and then a storm collar to keep the rain from running down the pipe. Use a 100 % silicone to go around the rain collar and under the upper and two sides of the flashing as well as some gasketed screws. be safe jz

What is a storm collar? What does it look like?
