Fisher Wood Stove Screen Location?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I just bought a house with a Fisher wood stove. It's a double door with an opening that's 18"wx11"H. There is no screen and I want one. I can't find a web site for Fisher Wood Stoves to order one. Can anyone help? Also, please be kind and don't add my email address to any ongoing lists. Just for answers to my question. THA

it sounds like ours, but I have never heard of a screen. when we want to watch the fire, we just open the door some when we are in the kitchen, but this really wastes wood and so we don't do it in general.

note: someone else we know moved into a house with a fisher that the firebricks had been removed out of, and they didn't realize the "brackets" on the side were to hold fire bricks, which line the sides and are supposed to line the bottom, just in case yours are missing.

ours works great, and our insurance man's face lit up when he saw it in our house, "oh, those are good wood stoves!" it was the only thing about the entire property that made him smile.

Fisher went belly up. You'll most likely have to make your own screen.

Shucks!! We used to have one, and I would have gladly given you the screen. Goes to show, you should never get rid of anything. (We never used the screen)

Just lost out on one on e-bay, they are nice but do waste wood. I suggest keeping you damper only 1/2 open if you want to use one.
