Mouse question (computer mouse)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

My husband has a Compaq laptop computer with the little mouse button in the middle of the keyboard. It has a little rubber thing over it that's totally shot. We have looked everywhere and can't find them. So, I was wondering if anyone has any idea where to buy them? I've also tried to find them on the internet but I have no idea of the actual name of it. Any help with either of the questions would sure be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

ANNA: Wouldn't you best to start with Compaq...?

Thanks for the suggestion Robert but we did look online at Compaq computers and Compaq keyboard parts. It shows the mouse button in the picture of the computer but we couldn't find any listed for sale or the name of it. I also emailed 2 companies that sell Compaq and other computer keyboard parts but they never got back to me.

Believe it or not, no one sells those little rubber things by themselves according to my sources. I had a Toshiba with that pointing device and used erasers from stick pens. They were durable and worked well. I had to rout out on end to fit it over the base. I hope this helps.

Gary, I want to thank you again for the tip on using the erasers. I just found "the real thing" for sale at Compu-Lock and they're called Track Point Caps. Believe it or not, they want $15.95 for 4 of them. Yeow!

Cheers!
