Henry Fields Seed Company

Is Henry Fields still part of Foster & Gallagher? I heard they no longer have Stark. I really liked Henry Fields in the past, and would like to do business with them again, but not if they are still part of Foster and Gallagher as I have heard on this forum that F&D were not reliable.......

They are part of the Foster & Gallagher conglomerate and Foster & Gallagher filed for bankruptcy which included ALL of its subcompanies - including Henry Fields, Stark (another company has made an offer for Stark pending bankruptcy court approval), Spring Hill Bulb, Gurnsey, etc. Most of the comglomerates have closed the doors.

Also filing for bankruptcy in the past few months has been Troy Built. They also have another company who wants to buy them pending court approval; however, another company has already bought up all the warranty work. Now, when you are under warranty another company performs all the work who is not associated with Troy Built.

Guess we are entering a new era in gardening. Really sad! For me I am sticking by my "old faithful" -- Stokes and Johnny's !!

I know only a few people that order seeds from catalogs. Most often they will plant what ever WalMart sells. I love my catalogs. I get at least 30 every Dec/Jan. Looks like this year I'll get a few less. I order a few things from my favorites every year to make sure I keep getting the catalogs. My favorites are Cooks, Totally Tomatoes, Johnny's and Seeds of Change. Will really miss Gurney's and H. Fields. I'll bet old Henry is rolling over in his grave. There was a quote in the catalog from him that went something like, "Plant a garden to cure whatever ails you. Be it physical, financial or (don't have a clue how to spell phycological)."

Is what I am hearing that I will not receive a Henry Field's catalog this spring? It is an old standby that really gets me in the gardening mood. Too bad. Terry
