Alexander died in Babylon. Nobody quite knows how he died but we suspect it was a bad mosquito which he picked up from his journeys up and down the lake. Anyway this illness he got really killed him. He could hardly speak and he was always feeling too hot or too cold. His servant Bagoas tried to help him but all in vain. As he lay dying on his death bed his whole army demanded to see him and so they did and he made a sign of acknowledgement to each of them in turn. Before he died he left the throne to 'the strongest' which wasnt very helpful as it caused huge amounts of conflict in his kingdom between his generals. Does that help??

Perhaps you need to get off the www and go to a library. There you shall find books that speak of things that even the www knows not whereof. For example, The Oxford Classical Companion. You facking ozzie piece of shite. (I added this just to make you feel at home).

I never respond to such idiocy but I must say you are an imbecile foo@bar.com. You should never post anything to any board ever - you just make it obvious that you are a very dumb person. I post anonymously only because I am sure I would receive mass flames from you if I left my real address.

I just looked through this section of his book. There is not much about the death itself even though Curtius in his characteristic style is improvising pre mortem dialogues but there is one of the most detailed accounts of what happened after his death i have seen so far. Whether we can trust Curtius or not its a diferemt story but definitely worth looking at. Wonder if someone will ever post it on the web?
