Jim, question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Jim, I noticed in a post you italicized part of my post. Are you using HTML or something else. If you're using HTML, do you have any idea why my "happy face" didn't show up on one of the posts? I used "\ch{:)}" without the quotes. Hum, maybe it's not HTML? I don't remember.

Second question. You surely didn't think I could make a post that short, did you? Lately, actually just today, when I post something and hit the back button, I've been ending up at the sign in page and have to put my password back in. Now I'm not complaining because, now I KNOW my password by heart! Learned it today.

Thanks.

Ha ha! I notice that Wildman (correctly) doesn't come to ME with these questions! :-)

Yep, I'm using HTML - the code looks like this:

<I>this is italicized text</I>

This is what it looks like after posting:

this is italicized text

As to the "happy face" you tried to use - it's definitely not HTML so it won't show up here as such. If you're trying to show an image you need to have the URL to where the image is stored and then write in the appropriate HTML code to link to that image.

Here's an example:

HTML code:

<IMG SRC="http://www.bloomberg.com/graphs/indu.gif">

Resulting image:

I'm not sure why you're getting bumped back to the sign-in page when you hit your back button. I know that when people have their cookies disabled it usally won't allow them to sign in. But I'm not sure if that is what's happening in your case.

Thanks Jim. The code I was using came off of one of the other forums, where it worked. Now ain't this fun, I don't remember which one it was.

I had a lot more instructions in the e-mail alert that I received than I did on the post on the board. I'll have to go to another board and play around with it.

I don't know why I kept getting kicked back either but it seems to have stopped. I would respond to a post, submit it, click the back button and it would say "page expired". Neither the back button nor the refresh would get me back to the board. But, like I said, don't go scratching your head over it, it's not important. Because of it, I learned my password.

Joy, apologies are pouring from me! Our of every pore. After I posted, I realized that you should have been included since you know WAY more than I do. Me so sollie.

Wildman, (head on chopping block)
