Just read in BBC sport that if the right offer comes in for him, Rangers will let him go. It says they are looking for around five million quid for him. I think YBR should try and sign him. Whadda ya reckon?

He's a Yank and Sunlun made a stupid offer, this is all I know about him. Is he a talent?

Just spoken to an American friend of mine - he said that he may do well at an average to bottom of the league type team but nobody any good. He reckons he'd be quite a good signing for Sunderland........

Hey! He can't go to Sunderland! ;-)

He's a key player in the US national team midfield, we struggle without his creativity. I had asked on here a couple months ago for observations from our Scottish-based bbsers and it seemed the opinion was that he's a decent player but wouldn't really fill any of our needs. Such as the strong MF type we desperately need. I kind of worry that he may be doing a Kasey Keller and putting his international career at risk by leaving a side where he's guaranteed first team play.

Sunderland offered 3.5 million for him last week didnt they?

Yeah, and were turned down. Can't remember if it was by the club or the player. Hopefully it was the player! ;-)

The club (rangers) turned down the offer , want double , he is imho having his best season , settled alongside Ferguson in midfield, work rate good, defensively adequate, creativity- difficult to judge, if you mean the defence splitting ball to release up front, nah he plays the simple ball well, short and crisp, this season he has been making good runs into the box , scored a few but missed more. Verdict, good buy for Sunderland at say 3 mill,as we all know our AMBITIONS at Newcastle are a lot higher, still better than Speed/Lee. Mac, you musta have seen Mikel Artega play for PSG against Rangers back me up mate, whaddya think of the kid on loan from Barca? Swift never came back with local info, he could do a job for us.

know nowt buff, though barca want riquelme and d'allesandro who are world beaters and are 20.

latest scuttlebutt is, 18 months on contract , knocked back £30,000pw * where does that put S`lun in the pay scale`?, Claudio wants the premier, so when Gers are out of Europe I expect him to go for 5 mill. Just a thought , can anyone recollect a player being sold for 4mil

Riquleim is class- would love him on Tyneside

I can Buff, but Robson doesn't seem to remember him at all.

Buff I sadly watched the Leed Eufa game (far better gambling opportunity) rather than the Rangers one so I didn't see the boy in question, i'm not sure if the return is the box. I bow to your talent spotting knowledge anyway !

Seems a canny player - good distributor, not too flash. Apparently hated by the rest of the Gers squad at the moment. The story (obviously not from official sources) is that when they went for a paintballing exercise for teambuilding purposes, they strung him up from a tree and blasted away at his ass (with their pellets, not Deliverance style) from point blank range resulting in severe bruising and a couple of weeks off through injury. Not sure how true that is, but still worth recounting.

Sunderland always go for hard working, battling, aggresive players. Exactly what we need. We could do worse than using Monkey Heed as a scout by looking closely at players he wants to sign. Then again, there was the case of that south american fella who they never saw play...

And Laslandes, and that dodgy 'keeper with a strong man's name.

I think this could be quite a useful signing for Sunderland, actually.

Is it possible to hope one player does well while the rest of the team falters??

-- Anonymous, December 06, 2001

There was another coup for The Journal this morning when they published a picture of a player in Rangers shirt that they indicated was Claudia Reyna. Unfortunately, it as quite clearly the Turkish international, Tugay - now playing for Blackburn.
Tossers.
