RICK, I hereby dub you our resident puter guru, now the question is....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

My display (?) line, the one with the start button, clock, logos, ect was originally at the bottom, then it went to live at the top; now it just moved to the right side, how do I nail that rascal down? Where is its handle?

Yes, there was a mob of homeless email deletes, hideing under the inbox, they have now vacated.

Now, how about a lesson per day for us that think cut and paste involves round point sissors and white stuff in a jag that you can eat? This is your chance to impress women and shine among men! Please remember some of us are at kindergarden conserning puters; you have a good writing style, easy to understand; besides, I'll buy you a drink, sailor!

It would be SO neat if Rick could help this old grandma! My problem is that whenever I copy and paste, then print, it prints twice! Yes, two pages instead of one. Help!

I am honored; there are many lurking who know much more. When we stay at the farm we'll be off grid for a week at a time.

I will be glad to share insight when I can, and will certainly answer any questions I can.

Mitch, I think they call it the task bar. What you are doing is grabing it with a left clicked mouse, and dropping it off in one of 3 other possible locations. To put it where you want it, left click it, and drag it back.

Ardie - Sometimes a solution goes entirely around the problem. Try this. Highlight all on the page that you want to print. Hold down the cntrl key, and touch the letter P. An MS window box will appear. Click where the circle for selection is. Click ok

To answer you otherwise, I'd need to know what program you are using, is it typing a blank page or a 2nd whole printed page - something to find an answer from.

Maybe Melissa can start a puter tutor section where newbies and grasshoppers can ask and (as an older question) seek answers to topics related to puting.

Rick, my DH said the same thing happened to him at work this week. He thinks it has to do with how we hold the ctrl key and the V key. BTW, I'm using Word and it makes two copies--one right after the other! I'm posting this in case it has happened to someone else and maybe it will help...or confuse others! LOL!!!

Ardie, if it is a long block you are pasting, and it pastes twice due to holding the ctrl + v down to long, there could be a duplicate 2nd page. If you page down, will the cursor go to a duplicate 2nd page? Does highlighting a selection and printing with cntrl + p (click selection then ok) print just one page?

BTW - ctrl + v is not necessary if you right click the mouse and left click paste (note cut and copy are there for your use as well.

I'll try that the next time! Thanks!

Rick, the click and drag does not work whatsoever here, plan "B"?

Mitch - What operating sytem does your computer use?

I went to the desk top and hit Function key F1 and typed task bar, and then clicked "moving" and it says "Drag the taskbar to a different location." I have windows 95. I click the left mouse button on an open spot on the task bar, and while holding it down I drag it to the extreme portion of the corner I want it in. Try it a couple of times too. 1 or 2 times it didn't seem to be responding.

Mitch the same thing happened tomine, and it drove me crazy. Try going to the "START" then "SETTINGS" then "TASKBARS" You can customize it there. Also if you go to the top of your screen where the X is to quit, the icon in the middle shows up as a "RESTORE" and if you do something to your screen and can't get it back to normal, this will put it back. This is what worked for me...

Hi Melissa

What o/s do you run the puter on? I tried settings, taskbar, and it gives me 4 "heck offs". Whether or not to hide, keep on top, show small icon's, and display clock!

I bet you have 98 or millenium.
