That is SO neat! What a great idea someone had. I'm thrilled you've got that in your home.

thanks, Aunt Bee....it was presented to him at one of the 5 times he "retired" from the School system. I also got the portrait that was presented to him as a gift for 30 yrs in the school system...I want to donate it back to the one school that he lived and breathed into existance... He was there from the first thought, to the first shovel to the last nail.... I have to do some research to see who heads the school system there now. they have a large plaque in the atrium for appreciation to dad there, so I thought they may want to hang his picture there.

It was a real bugger to put up, my arms are still aching from holding it above my head for dan...and the screws were not catching the plate to lock it in the ceiling....Finally I said "DAD, come help with this, my arms are breaking.....Dan got the nut on the screw in the next try! ::Smile::::

Great heirloom! May it remain intact and displayed for centuries! The portrait--kids are so weird these days; have you thought about making a big photocopy of it for the school? The original can then remain safe. 'Course, you'd get a really nice tax deduction if you donate it ;)

good Idea, Git, but how do you take a phot copy of a 40 by 36 portrait???

SAR, you would need to contact your local printer/copier outlets to see if they could handle it.

My computer finally showed off your light. It really is striking!

SAR,

What a beautiful lamp! That is some nice (and heavy I'll bet!) slag- glass - the texture looks beautiful!

SAR, I believe Kinko's might be able to handle it. Other than that, have a pro take a good photo of it, then take it to Kinko's for a blow-up.
