I have contacted the Bob Ross company and they have told me that all Bob Ross originals have been donated to charities or the PBS stations. You can get on the web site http://www.bobross.com . They will even email you back with any questions. Travis Robison

I am the proud owner of an original Bob Ross painting. I contacted the Bob Ross company in 1992 and asked about how to buy one, and for $350.00 they sent me one that had been painted on a television show. Ever since, I have been looking for other folks who have one--there must be thousands in existence! If anyone else has one, I'd love to know how you got it and when.

Like one of the writers before me I spoke with someone from the Bob Ross Comapny. They advised me to contact PBS stations and inquire as to when they were going to auction the originals during telethons.

Well....I think I have one of Bob's works from way back, but I'm not completely sure.According to what I can find....and it is hard to find information about his past...I believe I was stationed with Bob at Eilson AFB,Alaska in the late 1960's.I understand he did indeed have a career in the AF.The Bob I knew was an artist who enjoyed doing the alaskan landscapes. He gave me a goldpan which had a nice wilderness scene painted on black velvet(center of goldpan)....a log cabin setting by a lake, with mountains and trees in the background and the northern lights thrown in for effect. The Bob I knew had very short hair to keep in compliance with military standards ....he must have grown the afro after he retired. (Ha Ha)... But he was very soft spoken ,just like the Bob on tv.I have had this goldpan hanging on my walls for over 30 years. The signature is very distinctive...."Ross" in block letters....I have yet to observe how he signed his more recent works....did he continue signing the same way??On the back of the pan is an old address where he lived while stationed there.....perhaps his son would have some info about that...do you have anything about his past that would help determine if I'm talking about the real Bob Ross? 1-916-3444933

-- James G Jones (jimni35@aol.com), October 05, 2002.

I believe my family has an old Bob Ross painting. The painting itself is about 19X23 and is a forest with a creek in the middle, nice light techniques. Unlike the ones done on the Joy of Painting, this painting is just signed "Ross" in bottom right hand corner. Everything is very Bob Ross and it isn't a print, I just don't know how I can tell it is authentic...Please e-mail me: MrJonUlman@aol.com -Jonathan

Hello devoted painters and Joy Of Painting viewers,

I am also interested, and encourage anyone with information to please email me (andrewjacoby2@yahoo.com). Is there any web site dedicated to this? There seem to be so may people looking with no current resource for getting buyers/sellers together. If anyone has any ideas, beyond periodically checking on eBay, please post answer.

Thanks, Andy

I have an original painting by Bob. I directed a tv commercial for MTV starring Bob in which he happily painted a landscape with an MTV logo in it. I have a tape of the spot and the painting. If the price was right I could be convinced to part with it.

I will get a picture for my website when the auction date is set and you can see it. Meanwhile, what is a painting like this worth? Thanks

I have a Bob Ross original. It was my Dads.He was in the Air Force in the 60's & 70's.He retired near Vandenberg Air Force Base,Lompoc,Ca.I'm not sure where he aquired the painting, but I think it was an Air Force Bizarre at either Vandenberg ,Whiteman or Grand Forks AFB. I've had it for years stuck away and found it in a recent move.It is a small ocean painting kind of a monochromatic yellow/gold.The painting itself is 5x7" in a nice 13x15" frame. There is some imfo on the back and the title"Seascape".I will consider all offers for the painting and I can email a photo to anyone interested. Its a beautiful work of art. --Steven Chandler,Athens ,Ga

I recieved a Master kit from my Wife as a Christmas gift. I had watched Mr. Ross when ever I could catch the show and like everyone, considered him truely amazing. His easy, laidback presence led me to believe that even I could paint a picture. Well I have completed 20 such pictures since then !!!!! Believe this or not I even have some local galleries interested. With thanks to my lovely Wife and to Mr Ross for his phosthumas teaching, I have truly experienced the Joy of Painting. I would also love to have a Bob Ross original! I have just graduated from grad school and it would make a lovely addition to my new apartment! I have followed Bob for many, many years...in fact, in 3rd grade I was able to choose a reward for getting good grades all year and I asked for a Bob Ross painting kit. I have always been into art, drawing, painting, etc. & I wanted to grow up to be a painter like Bob. Life has led me away from that, but I still like to draw and paint as a hobby! =o) Yay, Bob Ross fans! I'm soooo excited that there are so many of us out there!

Hello, I was wondering if you have had any luck finding a Bob Ross Painting. I have an orginal from before 1982. I would like to know how much is is worth. An interesting story as to how I got it. After a terrible divorce and a much too hasty remarrige--I found my self and my two sons moving from the mid west to California. We were renting an older home in a town in the Bay Area The living room was dark with a dark carpet--and it echoed my feelings at the time. I said a prayer and asked God for a brightly colored painting. A BIG painting, that I could put over the piano and would brighten up the whole room ( and me too!) That very day my new husband walks into the house with this beautiful painting that I just fell in love with. He was an appliance repairman . He was working on something in a back area of a apartment complex (recently turned Condo's)when he spotted this painting behind a water heater. He asked who this belonged to--the person said nobody knew--it was there as long as he worked there. Then he asked if he could have it, and the guy said sure. We were probably going to throw it out. I didn't realize that it was an orginal Bob Ross until I was watching the program some 10 years ago and finally watched him sign one of his paintings. I turned around and looked at the signature on my painting--then the TV--and I knew it was the same. I have had that painting hanging in my living room were ever I went for 22 years. It has been a blessing to me all these years. It is about 3 feet tall and 38" wide. It is a picture of a small cabin in the woods by a wide river(which is in the middle of the picture). It is the heighth of Fall and the trees are golden. It is a gently overcast day. Kathie of CA Kathie of Lincoln CA

I believe I have two Bob Ross originals. I acquired these at an art framing shop in New York in 1975. So these would be from Bob's earlier work, probably 1974 or earlier. They are both signed ROSS in the lower right hand corner. E-mail me if you would like to see pics of these. Now, how does one go about verifying if these? John jcfraioli@aol.com

I am also one of "you." You know, someone who is oh so very obsessed with the talent of the wonderful Bob Ross. It is such a shame he has passed away. I have been a fan since I was young (I am still young, only 14). I would spend days with my grandparents and they would be watching PBS all the time. I got to enjoy Bob as much as I could. You should have seen me with my little crafts kit out trying to imitate him on construction paper. He has been like a good friend to me (ok, that's weird I admit, but he's just so awesome!). I do not have much money, hardly any at all, but if you have an original painting by him, I'm sure I could scrounge up the money for it. It would be my most prized possession for life. I would treat it well. Hopefully someone will help me get one, because it's always been my dream and it would remind me of the times I had with my two favorite grandparents who have also passed away due to cancer. Thank you.
