Today, December 12, we members of the Catholic Church family celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
We also honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

Pope Bl. Callistus II [baptized Guido (of Burgundy)] (French, nobleman, archbishop for over 30 years, elected to papacy in 1119, presided of Lateran Council I, reigned until death in 1124)
St. Columba of Terryglass (Irish, abbot, d. 552)
St. Conrad of Offida (French, cook, preacher, d. 1306)
St. Edburga of Minster-in-Thanet (Kentish, princess, calligrapher, Benedictine abbess, d. 751)
St. Finnian of Clonard ["Teacher of the Irish Saints"] (Irish, monk, founder of monasteries, c. 552)
St. Gregory of Terracina (Italian, Benedictine monk, c.570)
Sts. Hermogenes, Donatus, and companions (martyred by exposure)
Bl. Jerome Ranuzzi ["Angel of Good Counsel"] (Italian, Servite priest, d. 1455)
St. Abra (French, daughter of St. Hilary of Poitiers, virgin, died at age 18, 4th century)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John

Hello, David.
On the universal calendar of the Catholic Church (Latin rite), December 12 is indeed the memorial day for St. Jane Frances de Chantal. However, in order to allow for a fuller celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe today, the bishops of the U.S. (and perhaps other nations in the Americas) received Vatican permission to move St. Jane's memorial to August 18.

Thank you, Enrique. That is truly a magnificent site dedicated to Our Lady, patroness of the Americas and protectress of the unborn.

God bless you.
John
