Got this from our local paper--just about the most unnewsworthy thing they've ever printed:

Ground Settling At Site Of High School

ABERDEEN (AP) -- The ground at the site where Aberdeen's new high school will be built is settling at a rate of about a quarter of an inch every two weeks.

And the total amount of settlement at the site is close to 5 inches, Don Weigel of Clark Engineering told the school board Monday night.

When soil compaction began three months ago, engineers estimated that total settlement would be 6 inches or more.

About 135,000 tons of dirt have been hauled to the site to compact the original ground underneath so that it is firm when construction begins. Since then, the rate of settlement has slowed.

''But I can't tell you if it's reaching final settlement,'' Weigel said.
