Trees out live everything, giant turtles out live people as do some vultures, what critter out lives the turtles?

Mitch I have read some turtles can live over a hundred years. I THINK some whales can live that long too. But I don't know the specific type.

Quahogs is correct, and the word is pronounced co hogs, I do not understand the spelling.

A new question, and reminding everybody these stumpers are not search engine exercizes but rather an attempt to explain two stage thinking as stated in the earlier stumpers, availabe for review at the stumper catagory at the bottom of the question page.

Yes, Robert; I saw those choises earlier when I researched the question, one of those answers is allmost correct. Yes, Robert, you have proved you can use a search engine. You have 3 billion pages of info just waiting for your fingertips but the clue that tells which choise is correct will not come from a search engine, it will come from thinking; the clue is in place.

Robert, how else could you find answers to such widely varing questions, and the answers pop up on my screen allmost as fast as I post them. Readers, one of the answers is a bit incomplete if anyone wants to continue with the question.

For one thing I used the world almanac and also used my reference library of Top 10 of everything ByRussell Ash and the The Quinness book of world records, and also the Encyclopedia...

This is not the first time that Mitch has attacked someone new on the forum for actually knowing something. If a new person gets the right answer he immediately claims they have used a search engine. Some of us actually have brains and libraries of books and know how to use them. I look at the stumpers and know the answers or can figure them out occasionally but would never post here because of how some people are attacked. It seems this is Mitch's private playground. A self described hermit on a countryfamilies forum. Go figure. tooshytopost

Mitch startd these questions as a fun way to make people think. He does spend a lot of time looking for a wide variety of questions. Many, many days people get the answers quickly, he congratulates them and goes right on to a new question.

He has asked people not to use search engines for a couple of reasons, the first one being that it is virtualy impossible for one man to come up with questions and compete with a search engine. The second being that he would like many people to have the opportunity to try to get the answer.

Of course there are some questions that most people might know right off, and others that require some thought and research. I myself have sat and looked through my dictionary for words on the word stumpers!! I don't think I personally have known the answer to more than 5 of the questions off the top of my head.

I don't think Mitch is asking too much for those who answer to promise not to use search engines for the stumpers. Use books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, your kids! But try to dig in and figure it out the old-fashioned way.

The stumpers are unique to this forum, are interesting, and enjoyable to most everyone.

We try to appreciate everyone's contribution here on Country Families, even self-described hermits!!
