Looking for a new harness

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone out there know a goodsupplier of work harnesses? My set is about worn out and I need a new set. The problem is that my team is not the heavy draft mules, but standard sized. Every place I've checked so far only deals in show harnesses or draft harnesses which are way too big. A pony work harness may fit. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Beverly, where do you live? What do you use your mules for? do you need a set of harness with collars and hames or will breast strap driving style work for you? With a little more information I think I can help. Lastly, do you prefer leather or nylon/bioplastic type? Ralph.

we have all our harness done by local amish. He will give you a sheet witha picture of a horse (mule) with exact places to take measurments. He then takes your paper and makes you a harness. I bought a team leather harness for my drafts for 700.00 This included hames and bio lines (much easier on your hands) We only had to provide the collars. This harness shop is in the Berne Ind. area. There is also a good shop in DeGraff Ohio but he is a bit more expensive.
