What's your favorite Bible verse?

I was just looking at Jillian's "when I use my words" post, and reading some of the verses in it made me think of my favorite verse from the bible.

I used to work in a copy shop and helped people make business cards. One day, an evangelist and his wife and associate were in to get new cards for him. He had always had a bible verse on his cards, but the one that was on there was too long to fit on the new card, and they didn't have a bible with them to find another. I happened to have one in my glove box in the car, and ran out to get it so we could get this verse right, because when I told it to them as my favorite, and also fairly short, they loved it and felt it summed up our mission here succinctly. It is:

Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever."

What is your favorite, and why?

Mines Romans 8:28 - And we know all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. It was given to me when I was 14 and saved and have clung to it all these year (I just turned 40).

There are so many! Right now I think this is my favorite(This will change next week!)

Be still, and know that I am God. -Psalm 46:10

I love this because we all rush around so much, we need to just BE STILL! Just be quiet and think about God- or don't even think, just be and Be aware of God.

Creat in me a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Pslam 51:10-I always want a pure and clean attitude and I really like the part about a steadfast spirit, like a oak tree or something. That's how I want to be-God Bless

Now i feel i should contribute, i'm glad we can use this forum to share our favorite verses. I don't usually have that kind of fellowship with my friends who live around here. And seldom does my family get together and say, "heres a verse i really love". I'd have to say Galations 2:20," I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which i now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me , and gave himself for me." and i really like Psalms 63 " O God, thou art my God;early will i seek thee; my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land where no water is." This chapter goes on with so many more awesome verses that give God praise.

good one Hoot. I was thinking recently that I was going to go through my Bible and write down my favorite verses from each chapter or two, book by book. Make it like a journal, I think I will start this in the New Year and share some of my favorites with you all later on.

I was given this verse the day before my first scan when I was pregnant. We had been having infertility treatment for six years. "I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.

Then you will call to me.

You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.

You will seek me, and you will find me becaause you will seek me with all your heart."

Jeremiah 29:11-13

When I had the scan we found out I was expecting twins and they had both died. Although this was obviously a really sad time for us this word gave me much comfort and strength.

We have since gone on to have three children. Christopher (5), Charlotte (3 1/2) and William (1)

Not a day goes past when I don't think of the twins and what might of been, but I also thank God for my beautiful family, and I look foreward to seeing them in Glory.

Kelly, Psalm 46:10 really means a lot to me, too. Some years ago, some one I thought of as a very godly, level-headed woman, who was almost like a second mother, committed suicide. As I was literally screaming out to God for answers at the top of my voice, He led me to read through the Psalms, as I had been doing each morning. I had left off at Psalm 42, so I started there. Nothing was making any sense to me, and I was still hollering and crying. Then I read that verse. The whole verse reads, "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." First, I was immediately "still", though still crying quietly. Then I was able to accept that God's work was still being done, He was still in control, and His Name would still be glorified.

I, too, get much comfort from Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God.. It seems like every time I get worried or worked up about something, I can hear my Heavenly Father whispering these words to me.

My favorite Bible verse would have to be:

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God

I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

My gymnastics group and i always pray before workout and we ay our prayer and end with Isaiah 41:10
