Winder problem

Hi all

I'm having a problem with my winder and hope someone can help.

The case is that I can use the winder for some time and then, when I put it away for some time, it stops functioning at all and I can't bring it back to life again. Only the shutter operates. I opened the winder and found no broken cables etc. Also when I connect the non-gold plated locking point with the outmost point on the contact strip, the winder works. So the winder seems to bee working properly. The points of the contact stip seem fine to me and the springs work. Cleaning all points with a fiber-pen did not help. When I press the battery check button, the light does not come up. So there must be a connection not working. But how do I find out which point.

I'm a little afraid to open the bottom of the camera to check if the contact points are ok there. In the hole of the non gold plated point (furthest from the contact strip) I don't see any shiny material indicating there is a contact there, only a very small strip at the side so that may be the problem. Is it safe to open the bottom and check?

thanks for the help

I've got 2 Winder-R4's and they don't have battery check buttons or lights, I've never seen one that does.

The camera's battery check doesn't work when the winder is attached. My guess is your camera body is due for a CLA. I've had similar problems and the problem was fixed with a standard CLA service.

Sorry, a CLA? I'm new to the business and my list of english abbreviations on the topic is limmited :-). What are the guestimated cost? Any idea? I just have the camera and want to take it in action, how long does a CLA generally take?

Yes, the battery check button of the camera (=ISO change release) will work. At least it did a few times.
