The Fellowship of the Ring

Saw it today with my youngest son... I'm speechless...

I've waited 35 years since I first read the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings, to see a movie done that could do it justice... justice is done for the first book, though some things were trimmed to keep it at 3 hours, but ir didn't seem like 3 hours, it was over too quick, it seemed too rushed... I have to see it again...

30 hours maybe would have been right... now we have to wait another year for The Two Towers? And a year after that for The Return of the King?

AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand the frustration. But not to worry, the next chapter in Star Wars comes out in a few months so you can see that in the meantime.

I talked with my brother on the phone last night, and he gave LOTR a rave review.

What impresses us both is the fact that all three movies have apparently been made. Possibly there were economies of scale in doing it that way, but what a commitment!

I just hate reading the reviews for LOTR! I promissed my son that we --his dad and I --would see it with him when he gets out of the hospital. Drat--sometimes I just don't think before I speak!

It is one of those movies you can see more than once... hope your son is out of the hospital and home soon.

Yes, I understand Peter that they filmed all the parts with the actors, and now are going through with the special effects and computer enhancements. With the good numbers coming in at the box office, New Line will be motivated to keep the checkbook open to insure the next two are also top caliber. I'm waiting the day when I can own the directors cut of all three and have a LOTR orgy, watching all three back to back. Hope they have Tom Bombadil in the director's cut, which I understand is about 4 hours long...
