Checking in

Hi all!

Just taking a moment to check in. As far as I know, the surgery was successful. Won't know for sure until they take another set of x-rays when I go back for a visit next week. Hurts like a SOB though. Pain killers work sometimes, sometimes not.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

You are a brave woman, Apoc. Hang in there! SAR has a thread about spice tea. Maybe you can get someone to make it for you. If you lived closer to me, I'd drop off some fudge. (:

Ouch, ouch, ouch! If the painkillers aren't doing it, tell the doc and get something else!!! Can't have our apoc in that kind of pain.

How is your pain today, Apoc? Do we need to come out and beat up your doctor?

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for worrying about the pain. So far, the pain killers have been working. The thing is finding the correct time to take them. I don't want to be in a drugged stupor all the time, so I only take the bad stuff when I need it. But the thing is with that is that it is usually a little late and I have to have some really bad pain before they kick in.

I'm going to the doctor in the morning to have the dressing changed. It'll be the first time that I get to see the actual cut. By the way it feels, it runs from beside my toe to almost my ankle along the top of the foot. The stitches are starting to itch some, but I can't scratch them. Taking a bath has been interesting. Hard work, but done. I just couldn't go two weeks without a bath or a hair wash. Getting in the tub is the hardest part, that and the fact that my other foot really wants to slide down in the warm water.

The surgery hospital called to check up on me today and told me that I could start to walk around a bit, so I did. Didn't do to much, and I could tell that my knee and ankle were getting stiff from being in the same position for so long. Hubby laughs when he sees me walk, but at the same time says it looks painful. Not sure if the thinks I'm in pain, or that it is painful to watch me walk so funny.

My son has been a trooper with the whole thing. He has helped me and generally been really careful around me. I cannot wait to be outside again, and to walk the dogs. I want to run, but just generally be out of the bedroom or the livingroom.

Hubby brought down this 2000 piece puzzle last Friday evening for us to work on. It is a springbok - the one of the world viewed from outter space. This puzzle kicked our butts before when it came to do all the space part of the puzzle. We were determined to finish it this time. Well, we currently have around 500-700 pieces left. They are all solid black. I cannot wait to get this one finished, as it has taken so long. I have worked on this puzzle for hours and hours. We normally can get one this size done in about 2 days.

I'll try to check in later.

Well, apart from the pain, doesn't sound too bad (snort!). About four days ago I quit taking ibuprofen--latest is ibuprofen cancels out the aspirin I take to help with heart attacks Now I can hardly bloody walk. It's nowhere near the kind of pain you have from your surgery (cringe!), so I really, truly empathize. This morning I said I'd rather have a heart attack and started on the ibuprofen again. Got too much to do. Definitely know how you feel about not being able to get around. I can't run and jump any more but at least I could bloody WALK without looking as if I have cactus needles in my shoes.

I hope you get over this soon and get wrasslin' with them dogs again.
