Are you learning anything...

new, especially homesteading skills? Seems all I've learned is how to finish drywall and I could probably tell you all the steps to build a house.

Good question...

recently: learned that chickens are not always smart enough to go in when it's too cold. Learned that reintroducing one was not as horrible as I thought it was going to be (they didn't kill her...thanks for the tip about introducing at night, Melissa!)

in general since moving to the country: have REALLY learned to save money and spend carefully. have learned to rely on myself more. Have learned to build fires. Have learned to put up a small building. Have learned to get better at cooking. Have learned to can and garden. Am starting to learn about birds. Next year hope to focus on improving the herb garden (it needs help) and attracting bluebirds and purple martins. Lots to learn. I love learning...it makes life so interesting.

OH..I'm learning to write a book, too (trial and error) but it's not homestead related.

I have learned so many things in my life about living in the country! I just recently told my Dad I have so many things I want to do that I don't think my life will be long enough!

Here are some things I WANT to learn more about: Make better home- made bread with more consistent results, make soap, learn more about solar power and wind power, raise all of my plants here at home, find more and different perrenials, get better at storing in my fruit cellar, eat more basic foods... I could go on and on!!! Learn more about this computer also!!!

I reciently learned how to fix my toliet, thanks to Mitch. Christmas day , my Uncle's water line broke under the house. He just had hip replacement so my dad helped fix it. I learned that plumbing is fairly easy, mostly common since and that I never want to go under a house again. Never, never, never!!!NO NO NO. I have also set up some crocheting lessons for myself after the first of the year. I hope that goes well.
