Fondue, Anyone?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Has anyone here made, or know anything about making fondue? I havn't done it myself, but my SIL and sister have raved about it. My sister is coming to see us this weekend, and when she comes, we do a "Food Adventure", where we make something we had either not tried before, or is really complicated. She wants to do Fondue-I'm game, but I know very little about it-Can anybody offer any suggestions?

I will say I have better luck when I leave my bread out for the day on the counter. It stay better on the stick and doesn't break apart!

Hi Kelly, Here's a favorite fondue that we usually make on New Year's Eve. It's not a main course meal, it's more of an appetizer. I like it best with Triscuits.

Crab Meat Fondue

1 can (approx 5 oz.) crab meat

1/2 lb. velveeta cheese

1 pint sour cream

3/4 cup mayonaise

1 small diced onion

1 teas. worchestershire sauce

Melt cheese in double boiler, stirring constantly. Add mayo, sour cream, and other ingredients. Cook slowly until thoroughly warm. If sauce seems thin, add pinch of corn starch. Transfer to fondue pot on low flame. Keep stirred to prevent bottom from scorching.
