American Revolution and Biblical Principles

I thought perhaps some of you might be intersted in reading this dissertation on the Revolution. It seems like it comes up a fair amount in my conversations with more pacifistic Christians, and I thought it an excellent resource. Hopefully someone else will like it!!

American Revolution and Biblical Principles

If not, that's okay, too!

Love it Doreen.

My favorite line is;

Man does not exist for the sake of government, but government is instituted for the sake of man.

(James Wilson , Signer of Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, one of original members of the first supreme court)

Now that quote would make a lot of politicians cringe in Washington, it says their beloved huge government is not what it should be. Government is supposed to be there to help us, not control us in endless ways.

The guys back then make most of our politicians look like the idiots that they truly are. Back then it was work for the good of the people, today it seems like work for the good of the politicians so they can get re-elected again and again. They give things to their constituents so they get re-elected (West Virgina is the obvious example with Sen Byrd).

It seems the caliber of our elected officals has diminished over the years, but who is at fault in this decline. The voter, who else. We vote for the politician who promises us the most from the government, and then complain when our liberties are stripped away. We can't have it both ways, like some seem to think. We get what we deserve.

Talk to you later.

The problem with voters in this country is that they take too much of what the politicians say at face value. Judge by DEED, not word. Be careful though, these guys like to doctor their records so the deeds others see are the ones the politicians WANT them to see. These guys aren't stupid. They can be counted on to use every dirty trick in the book possible to get ahead, and WRITE a few pages if need be!
