Want to say "thanks" for Neti pot advice

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Just wanted to thank Sara Perry for her advice on getting a Neti pot in an earlier thread ("Anybody know of an herbal antibiotic??", 10-3-01). I purchased one, due to chronic sinus infections in winter and I believe it has done wonders for me.

I've only used it for a few weeks, but it cleared up a bad sinus infection, and I've noticed that no longer do I have a chronic cough from "stuff" going down the back of my throat. I also seem to breathe easier, night and day. It seems that I can go outside and not have my nose immediately start running. The Neti pot directions say that a person will also think more clearly when their sinuses are clear, so I hope thats becoming true for me, also!

So, just wanted to say "thanks". I ordered mine over the internet from (I think) healthandyoga.com.

(Of course, while I'm at it, I should thank the hundreds of people who have contributed to this forum - I have learned SO MUCH from all of you. I am very grateful.)

Bonnie, I also have recently started using the Neti Pot. And I am totally convinced! I have had excellent results from it and recommend it highly. In His Grace, Sissy

Hi Bonnie,

I'm glad you like your neti pot. I am always a little shy to suggest it to people because it sounds so strange! In answer to the question about what a neti pot is - it's an old yoga practice where you use a small pot with a spout to rinse out your sinus' with salt water. I heard that "oo-oo ick!". No really it works.

I have to agree with you too, Bonnie about all the great information here. I have to be careful I don't waste the better part of my day when I peek in.

A friend who practices yoga showed me her Neti pot a few years ago. I was not convinced until I moved to allergy central here in Tulsa OK. I had the worst sinus infections and severe allergy attacks until I tried the Neti pot. I am addicted to it now, I Neti twice a day and have found a mucus solvent "Alkalol" and add a cap to the saline mixture which works wonders...I have not had a cold/flu/bronchitis/allergy problem since using it...and when a sinus headache comes along, I just neti it out!
