What are your favorite pea varieties for growing green spit peas for soups?

O.K. sorry. I meant split peas, not spit peas. The smooth, green, half-spherical things. Have any of you grown them?

Doug, I haven't grown them, but my husband and I were just talking about them last night. I believe the commonly available variety used for soup peas is called Alaska -- and I'm not sure how commonly available it is anymore, as I was keeping an eye out for it in this years seed catalogs and don't remember seeing it in any of the ones we've gotten so far.
