Giselle, you can improve your vocabulary in several ways, but the best I've found is to read, read, read. Even when you don't stop to consult the dictionary about a word you don't know, you'll find that you begin to have a notion of a word's meaning from the context.

Also, there are several vocabulary email lists. The two I really like can be found at A Word a Day and the Merriam-Webster web site.
