Organizing Boxes-Where and what to get

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I have always used xerox boxes to store things because they are sturdy and the stack up nicely. Now that I live further south--bugs are a problem and I'd like to switch to plastic but am tooooooo cheap.

Today I went looking for large stackable boxes and found some a bigger than xerox boxes for $5 at Dollar General. Can I do better? Will you post if you see a sale over the next few months?

I have been eyeing some larger containers that are squarish in shape to cut off the handles and use for organizing shelves (for no cost) My big laundry detergent plastic container is squarish--which is important because round shapes waste space. Saw my big veg. oil container is another possibility. You know--to put all the small packages together, or all the soaps in a linen closet.

I find it's easier to pull out a box of organized things when looking in the back of a shelf than moving 10,000 items at a time.

Ideas? non-paper please.

Ann,

Try this place. Viking Office Products. I have bought many things from them online for several years now for my office. Their products and prices are very good. Free shipping with $25 or more purchase.

Here is their net address:

Go to the bottom of this page on the left and you will find storage boxes, reasonably priced.

Talk to you later.

Everybody hates Wal-Mart.

73 quart size box, with a lid. Stackable, and under $4 each.

I like these bl/purple rubbermaid ones f/Target, they are on sale pretty often for less than $4.

Often times (not always) on shopping day's I skip having lunch out take the four or five dollars I have saved and buy something like this I consider this an extra as I could live without it. I have discovered that if I really judge my purchases I will get more lasting things and less treats or impulse items. I started buying one nice towel a month last year it was the same price as a bag of chips or ice cream I reaped better nutrition and twelve new nice towels mine were looking pretty shabby.

Everybody does not hate Wal-mart, their fourth quarter earnings were up 6%, while most all other stores were down.

I love saving money at Wal-mart, I laugh all the way to the bank with the savings! I get evrything but the critter feed at Wal-mart, and if they carried that, I'd get that there too!!!

Another WalMart fan here. Saves so much money vs. any other place in town. Saves me time too.

I would suggest the best place to buy decent, economy priced plastic storage containers is WalMart.
