Bombs Found in Bedroom of 13-Year-Old Texas Boy

ROSENBERG, Texas — Authorities are trying to determine why a seventh-grade Texas student had five homemade bombs in his bedroom.

Police say the 13-year-old boy was arrested after police found the bombs in his Rosenberg bedroom yesterday. Rosenberg is 35 miles southwest of Houston.

Administrative Sergeant Wyman Hopkins says police had not determined the boy's plans for the bombs, but says the teenager's comments about having the explosives were interpreted as a general threat.

Officials say no specific threats had been made against the boy's school -- George Junior High School.

Police were alerted yesterday morning that two of the suspect's classmates reported hearing him talking about the bombs.

The teen was being held at the Fort Bend County juvenile detention center on charges of terroristic threat, possession of bomb material and possession of a bomb.
