Different film bases at the same time in one developer

Hi! How about developing a roll of TMAX-400 and a roll of TRI-X at the same time in the same tank. Are there any chemical reactions in one film base that can be transported to the other film base and and cause some damage? /Lars

Nope, both are silver halide and the antihalation backs are water soluble that will not react with the developer, so you should be safe using both films in the same tank.

No reactions, but unless they both need the same development time, you're like to have the wrong contrast on one.

Try Divided D76 or Divided D23, which generally don't require different development times for different films.

Search the archives on recommendations on using TMax 400 with either of these developers. Tri-X ought to be OK with either.

Diafine is a divided developer that allows development of different films at the same time. However my limited experience with 2 rolls of Tri-X Pro, indicates that this is not the best developer for Tri-X (large grain). I'm hearing from several buddies that HC-110 is great with Tri-x.

I forgot to mention that the new Delta 400 is a wonderful 400 speed film that will yield fine grained 11x14's from a 6x6 negative.
