Did the GS&F interchange with the Florida East Coast at Palatka? If so, was there any through passenger service?

Thanks, Roy Bower Miami

Roy:

Hello. This is another good question in addition to your earlier question concerning the Palatka Union Depot. I do believe that the FEC had interchanged with the GS&F at the Palatka Union Depot area; but that was the extent of it. Then the GS&F used the ACL tracks (6,000 feet) to get them to their freight depot and yard by the riverfront property. Again, hopefully some of our Palatka members could help us out on this one.

When I was researching the FEC East Palatka line I checked with FEC Historian Seth Bramson. He informed me that FEC had a bridge across the St. Johns to Palatka and interchanged there with ACL and SR. The bridge was removed in the mid to late 1940s if I remember correctly.
