A new bug has hit me square between the eyes. I have decided to learn how to play the fiddle. boy is it harder than it looks. Just starting to learn how to bow and some noting. Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Rich in G'ville

Rich, good luck,Ive been told the fiddle is the hardest instument to learn to play,I took some lessons years ago and I was doing okay then I gave it up.I think about starting again, still have my fiddle, when I first started my "playing" my little house dog would set at my feet and howl was I bad or what!Only tip I can give you is hang in there thru sore fingers and squeaking and discouragement, you will be glad you did.

Hey, Rich-check out the Countryside forum-Someone posted today about learning to play fiddle at fourty-five-I thought it might be you at first, but I believe Sadie posted it. May be some tips there (though, I don't know how old you are!!!!!!)

Ok, here's the basic question of the thread; Is a 'fiddle' a violin? If it is, there's the 'Suzuki method' that has taught thousands to play to consider. Good luck to you. I hope this helps.

I allways thought a violin was what rich folks played and a fiddle was what we country folks played.

Fiddle is the only way for me to go. like the chops and vamps of fiddle tunes. Also like the celtic style of music from the martimes.
