Hi was wondering if anyone else has a cattle dog? I have a red bitch who will be 1 soon. It amazes me her natural instinct.I have to say she is the coolest dog I ever had .She is great with the kids too {human}.She will herd just about anything .Plays all by herself too! You will hear a ton of noise and it's her throwing a bucket or bowl around , also loves to play socceer.

I have a red merle Australian Shepherd and he loves to herd just about anything! He is 3yrs old and herds goat and attempts to herd the horses, but we usually call him off so he won't get kicked! :o) We don't have any human kids, but I'm sure he'd be great with them. He doesn't play by himself though.

I have 1 male australian shepard (red merle) who is 7 years old and 2 australian cattle dogs(blue heelers)mother and daughter 4 and 2 years old, they are wonderful. They are all fixed and mico chiped. I don't have anything to herd so I use to make my son run around the yard so they could herd him and nep his blue jeans LOL. We had a picnic table in the front yard and one in the back yard and he would run from one to the other and get right up on top. It drove the dogs crazy. Mine are house pets, I know they are to big for the house but I grew up with cattle dogs and have always liked these breeds best. My neighbor brought her 3 year old over for me to watch one day when he was sick. The dogs would not leave his side. he fell asleep using my A/shepard as a pillow and the two cattle dogs fell asleep useing Him as a pillow. Just a big old pile of dogs with a little boy in the middle. LOL the a/shepard would lift his head about every 10 min and lick Levi on the forhead. It seemed like he was checking his temp. LOL These are the best dogs!!
