"Cold Mountain"

Has anyone here read "Cold Mountain" by Charles Frazier? It won the National Book Award a cfew years ago-1997 I think. Its an excellent book-it takes place in Appalachia during the Civil War, but theres lots of discriptions of daily life that would interest homesteaders.

Yes...it's a wonderful book. My husband and I really enjoyed the transition that the female character made into homesteading life.

Good book..as a Civil War freak and homesteader, I got double enjoyment out of it...I could empathize with the heroine a great deal..seems all the ladies I meet are like the hired hand in the book..they know everything about homesteading!!!!!!!!!!!!!
