A quote

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

"If we must judge, let us first use the mirror on our own wall for practice."

How many of us when then go any further?? This quote made me have an "Aha" moment!! So easy it is to see the faults of others, but alas where is our mirror???

Oh Melissa, that quote is perfect. I am as guilty as anyone of judging people and I can't tell you how many times I have had to apologize and the number of cards I have sent to say "I'm sorry" and then the number of times I have had to go to the mirror and tell myself that I'm far from perfect.

James 1:23,24. Aha, indeed.

Kevin, I often try to guess which verse you will post! You seldom disappoint me, as this is exactly the one I was thinking of when I read this quote!

Here's my couplet version:

Start Here
When the urge to judge appears and starts to trawl,
Practice on the mirror on your wall.

Hi Randal I knew you would do a couplet, but I was trying to think of what you would rhyme with "judge"!!! You are better than I am at this, I spent a lot of time trying to make it work out!!!

Some words don't lend themselves to rhyming much, like judge, so we have to work around them. Trawl wasn't my favorite to rhyme with wall, but I figured it'd do. I'm still working on one couplet now for a couple of months. Don't know if it'll ever work out....
