Please tell me where there are AME elementary schools? In America? It would be so good to know that our denomination has schools that teach the established basic curriculum, in addition to the arts and sound biblical doctrine.

Besides the Academy of Excellence, which began under the leadership of Bishop Cummings here in Florida, I'm not aware of another such institution.

Make my day with some news I can use. My hope is alive and well.

Reid Chapel Seventh Episcopal District, in Columbia, South Carolina has an elementary school.

As does Allen Cathedral, Jamaica NY". St. Paul, Cambridge MA has the Henry Buckner School, but I'm not sure if they have expanded beyond Grade 2.

Would the Christian Educatoin Department, or the Chief Information Officer be a source of data?

Thank you, Lorenzo. I have a co-worker from Columbia. She went home over the weekend and just came back to work today. I must go over and see what she can tell me about this wonderful news.

However, can you tell me more? What are the grade levels? Where is it housed? What's the curriculum? Is it maintained by the local church, district, or conference? Brother Lorenzo, I just want you to know that's sweet music to my ears.

Are there others?

Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Thanks to Sister Barbara for asking this question about our schools (elementary). Thanks to all of you for sharing. I really had forgotten Allen in NY, thanks Brother Jerry for the link. Keep those names coming, brothers and sisters. And Brother Ray, I do believe you're correct about St. Mark, Orlando. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own little niche, we can't see the forest for the trees. (smile) But, thanks be to God that he sends his people along to open our eyes.

My spirit is overjoyed just knowing that our children are being nurtured by godly men and women who will teach them to love the Lord and who will encourage them to be the very best they can be.

For all of you who are engaged in such a worthwhile task, we'll be praying diligently for you.

Bill, I didn't go to the planning meeting. Did the Bishop keep the Academy of Excellence under EWC?

Rev. C (Cecelia Bryant) established the Houston-Davidson Academy during her tenure here in Texas as Episcopal Supervisor, but sadly, it is not in operation now, but we are still praying for it to come back. It operated for three years, but most of the students were not children of AME parents.

Blessings,

Pastor Paris

There is an outstanding school in Maywood, IL. Co-Pastors, Rev. Esther Mitchell and Rev. Lucille Jackson (JW James Memorial) operate a school that was featured in the WMS Magazine a few months ago. St. Mark AME Church (Milwaukee, WI) recentlt established a school.

Rev. J:

It is my understanding that the Academy of Excellence remains a part of Edward Waters College. However, some AME ministers in the FL Conference are exploring ways to have those services provided off-campus, closer to where they live and work. QED

Brother Jerryl is correct. St. Paul AME-Cambridge, MA has a program but I hesitate to call it an Elementary School because it includes children from Toddler/Infants thru Grade One. The children leave Grade One on an average of two grade levels above. There are about 80 children in the program called the Henry Buckner School. They are licensed for up to grade 5 but space limitations are delaying expansion. We are praying for an appropriate building.

There is an awesome Elementary School in the AME Church. There is the James Memorial Christian Academy in Maywood, IL. The Founders are the dynamic Rev. Esther James Mitchell & Rev. Lucille Lewis Jackson. It has been in existence for 20 years. It is the school to send your child to. To God Be The Glory for The GREAT Things He has DONE!!! Praise The Lord!!
