As of this morning the masterbath counter is history, the mirror is history and the floor has a big hole in it. The tunnel line in the kitchen is being dug out, and soon the hallway will be part of the tunnel. they are going to remove the tub and sink and toilet from this bathroom today, so that one will be history too.

We go to look at tile at another place tonight. They install as well, so we can get a price for the entire job and submit that to the insurance to pay.

Yikes Barefoot!

When you see something like that in your own home, you have to wonder if they can make it all better again. Here's hoping that the work goes quicker than expected, with exceptional craftsmanship.

thanks apoc. We have a really good feeling with the plumbers. A neighbor of my parents said that all her friends use the same company, and they all gave good reports! The company knows not to piss off widows and rich people, which most of them are. Like I said, we have a good feeling.

Next year at this time, all the moving of 01/02 will be just a bad memory. That's quite a hole! I'm glad you have confidence in your plumbers.

Wow, what a mess. Hey barefoot, I just listened to a show on AB about the deep hole and the screams that were heard!!!!

just joking with you...

and as Meems said, soon you will be snug and cozy in a great home...that is DONE!!!!!!

Oh my! We were discussing the hole in the floor last night. One thing that we thought up was finding a skeleton under there. Can you imagine the hassles that would cause?

I already told David, the plumber dude, that if we find any treasure I would split it with him, but today he has a helper, so that one's share comes out of David's half.

SAR, can you imagine the military laying claim to the hole in Barefoot's bathroom? There must be a reason the dogs are so interested...

-- Anonymous, January 23, 2002

odd thing about them dogs, they have the entire back yard to lay around in, and the patio too, but they have dug out little spots next to the house where this plumbing pipe exits the house. Essentially they are laying on top of the other end.

Maybe they want to feel the vibrations from the jackhammer?

Geeezzzz! Those pictures look like somthing from that old flick "Tremors" LOL..

Hope you get it fixed (the way you want it to be)

I remember "Tremors!" That was a weird one, huh? Loved the part where the thing slams into the concrete. LOL

I added a couple pictures. More later. they pretty much eliminated the floor in this bathroom. Having to get to the old pipes, and making the locations for the new pipes accessible to the new trench, and it seems they are intending on moving my a/c compressor outside. it is right in line with where they are trenching towards the wall.

Hope it doesn't get too hot! We're at 78 right now.

OMG

New tile, new tile, new tile, new tile....

-- Anonymous, January 24, 2002

the pipe is almost completely in. They buried most of it now. No pics of it since it would look like dirt and we've all seen that. LOL

They come back Monday and finish, and they will also put in a new water line, hot and cold, between the two sides of the house. Right now, the lines go to the front entry closet before going to the other side. The water heater was in there in the beginning, but we moved it to the laundry room back in 89 and capped the lines in the closet. This will eliminate any potential problems we hope!

No word from the contractor today, was hoping he would call. Maybe Monday.

Oh, Barefoot. Wow! I just got some time to look over the new pix. That's quite a project. I'm glad it's progressing so well.

What sort of tile did you pick out?

-- Anonymous, January 26, 2002

The tile looks like sandstone. Very light colored, not glossy. They are 17 x 17 or 18 x 18.

The bathrooms we want white in 8 x 10 but we will accept 8 x 8 if need be. The floors in the bathrooms may be the main floor tile, but 8 x 8 bathroom floor tile is okay, too. It would be a good transition to have those be cream colored.

I tried taking a foto of the tiles at the store, but the result isn't the same as seeing them for real. I'll post those few later or tomorrow.

We have more shopping to do today. I may be on later this afternoon.

Contractor came by and said we had to move everything out. Then he said that he thinks he'll be done by the end of February.

Hotel, anyone?

Oh shite!

I'm sorry to hear about this latest snafu. That's a LONG time to be out of your house. Tent in the back yard?

Seriously, I knew one couple, don't remember all the details, but they borrowed a motorhome and camped out in one of the state parks for six weeks while something major was being done to their house.

Your tile sounds lovely! Think about how great everything is going to look.
