Do you think my cat is spoiled?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News - Homefront Preparations : One Thread

I just wonder sometimes if I've gotten "too far out."

I bought a new office chair and put it in my office. I was going to donate the old one to the VOA (charity). It turns out that my cat likes to sit in it while I'm working on the computer, especially when there's no room on the desk, under the light, so the chair now sits under my other desk, facing out. I don't think I've ever had an "official" cat chair before.

I've been working a lot of hours. The cat insists that I scoop out her box twice a day, but some days I'm really lucky to get to it once. I bought a second (smaller) litter box for her (she goes elsewhere if her box isn't clean enough for her).

I don't think I've gone too far out of the way, but several of the guys think I'm turning into a senile old lady with dozens of cats. Granted, I only have one, but she has enough energy for five. . . .

Upon re-reading this, maybe I do need to get a life. (;

compared to OG, you don't even have one cat.

When my old Coon Boomer passed away at 18 she had me pretty well trained. I swore I wouldn't let that happen with any future cats, but they're sneaky.

I approve of the idea of a cat chair. Sure beats the cat in your lap/in your face/on your keyboard when you're just not in the mood. With Boomer I had to set out a decoy newspaper that she could lie on while I fumbled with the real documents.

Yes, I guess there are advantages to a cat chair. When I pick her up from my lap, she'll sit in the chair, whereas when I pick her up from the desk, she hop back up there, which is a real problem right now. I'm typing a bunch of letter and numbers on several separate pages into a database (waiting for more files right now).

I just remembered that I have a box on the floor next to me with a towel on it for the cat. Or the small dog, whichever gets there first. So, a chair isn't much more of a reach for me. And the box keeps them out of my new chair most of the time.

the key here is it USED to be mommy's chair, so she feels close to you..I have an office chair with a soft fleece liner for Tammy Lynn Kitty and it is under the dest, she is happy there, see her only o eat and potty. Streak owns the old unwashed sweater in the top of my closet, only she her to potty and eat, same with many of the others, only had 2 that are visiable at all...

they have their :loving time" and then you just don't see them!

(hehehehehe and I think I have OG beat!)

That could be SAR, but I also think she likes to snooze high off the drafty floor. When I finish typing this junk, I'll clear off the desk again so that she can lie under the light.

Did I tell you the main reason we bought this house was because it had big windows in the living room? Big-screen kitty TV. We have two floor-to-ceiling cat trees from drsfostersmith.com, also a stairway thingie with a crow's nest and a smaller cat tree with a sort of bird's nest type hideaway. I saw some 1' dia. by 4' long concrete forms at Lowe's for about 8 bucks, bought one and stapled an old carpet to it--they love their tunnel! Then I have various baskets and wine boxes (just the right size, shop will sell them for 2-3 bucks). Their favorite? Fake sheepskin cuddlers from PetsMart, just oval-shaped beds with a rolled lip, medium and large sizes. Of course, they like their heating pads underneath too.

By the way, Zucco is doing very well--at last we have a "normal" cat, extremely endearing! Maybe the others will take hints from him.

You're right SAR, you have me beat. The Hungarian lost four in the last couple of months (old age) and is now down to 18. One of her cats has just developed diabetes, and he's not overweight either. She's giving him insulin shots and he's doing fine.

I've never had a pet. However, there's one pet I'd really have spoiled if I had had him, and that's Morris the Cat. My understanding is that Morris made his owner "rich beyond the dreams of avarice" during his fairly long career as a TV star.

Peter, Morris was found at a pound. You might want to go to your local pound and see if there's another Morris. . . Marmalade cats are very popular in Britain.

Cats with marmalade... new recipe?

-- Anonymous, January 24, 2002

Ah, there you are. Been meaning to talk to you about that thread. . .

If their popular in Britain, most likely it's an old recipe.

Careful Barefoot, Old Git went looking for the catnip...

you know, cats don't really blink like that.

[I'm wearing a cup. It's advised because of all these cats.]
