Barter Board online! - Hawk your wares

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Okay folks, you asked for it. There is now a separate forum specifically for selling or bartering your homemade homesteader goodies. To find the Barter Board, Click on the word LUSNET at the top of this page, then scroll down until you see this:

Click the Barter Board link, then muster all the commercialism you can, and post away! This will be a board run by homesteaders for homesteaders, and will work the same way that this one does. Any questions?

You are welcome to plug it every so often on the Countryside Forum as we gain and lose people all the time.

One problem I see with this is when you advertise in Countryside (classifieds) and elsewhere is the length of the link to get you there. Would have been simplier with something like www.handmadegoods.com.

Setting up a new LUCENET forum is fairly simple, but don't let people create their own category. That's your job as monitor. Also, as monitor, it's your job to set the rules and then enforce them. For example, what will you allow and not allow? If the items have to be hand- or homemade that needs to be clearly stated.

To put in text before the opportunity to post a new thread, there are two text blocks under the administrator's page. Only the second one will work.

Good luck!

I have a question for either Chuck or Ken. Is this for bartering only homemade wares, or will it be more like an Ebay thing? I have a pair of brand new snowpaints for children and numerous other things that I would normally put on Ebay/Yahoo.

I checked on "handmadegoods.com" just out of curiosity. Did you know it's a nudie site??? Unbelievable!

I should have been more specific in my post. I didn't mean for it to be an auction type site, but can we list anything, or just homemade items?

Lisa:

That's a question for Chuck to answer.

List anything you want! Buy/Sell/Barter/Trade, you name it.
