let's talk about Jesus

Our Lord and Savior is always waiting for us to come to him. His love for us is so great. What are your feelings about Jesus, how has he changed your life. Are there passages in the bible that talks about Jesus that comforts you. I love him so much, I just want to talk about him with my a.m.e family.

When I think of the totality of the life of Jesus, the Christ, I am overwhelmed and often brought to tears. I often wonder if the first disciples ever really came to understand how awesome an act of love Jesus committed by submitting to the will of God the Father and going to Calvary. For me, there is no simpler choice than to confess Jesus as Lord, the Son of the Living God. It makes me wonder why it is so difficult for nonbelievers to see and to understand what makes Jesus so wonderful. It is that wonder that drives me to explain the mystery to them, and to pray that He would use my life as an example of what a life in Jesus can be.

If I had to point to a specific scripture, one of my favorites would be Isaiah 53:5- "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes, we are healed."

Peace and blessings!

Thank you W.J for your eloquent words, last night I was thinking about all the different things we talk about, politics, the weather, money etc. And how little time we give to talk about Jesus. I love him so much, and I cannot put it into words, for he loved me when I did not love myself. He taught me to love myself and others through forgiveness. He taught how to accept the love of our father, he has taught me to be a servant, and that as a minister, I am to humble myself in the sight of the lord, I am nothing without Jesus. I feel a deep sadness when I am with other Christians and we do not talk about Jesus. I feel utter joy, when someone gives a praise report and they begin, "I just have to thank my Jesus" Jesus we love you and adore you, let all of our thoughts be upon you, so that the will of our father can be known through you and given to us. Father God we pray we will not be so caught in earthly things, that we forget the greatest gift of all is your son Jesus Christ. Without Jesus there is no church, without Jesus there is no ministry. Father God give us a new boldness that we will not be timid about Jesus, let us proclaim our love for him on this discussion board and in our lives. Let our day begin with prayer and thoughts of Jesus and let our evening end with prayer and thoughts of jesus. Amen

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. - Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)

It gives me great comfort to know that Jesus is doing and being who and what He has eternally been and done. Therefore I can approach Him with confidence and assurance that He knows, sees, hears and cares for me. Thus I say in response, "Hallelujah, What A Savior!"

Isaiah said His name shall be called Immanuel, meaning God with us.

Again, I am reminded of a hymn, "All Hail to Thee, Immanuel", which I have often heard sung by the choir of my father's family church in Atlanta--Big Bethel AMEC. The author of the text of this hymn, we are told, was a nonbeliever. He simply wrote it to prove that anyone could write a Christian hymn. However, God allowed him to be present in an assembly where a choir sang this very hymn. As a result he was convicted and gave his life to Christ.

How wonderful it is to know that even when we think not or even when we fail to acknowledge Him at all, God is with us in all that we may do and wherever we may go.

Jesus, my Savior, my Master, my Lord, my joy, my strength, my ALL!

O, how I love Jesus!

Psalm 32:8 NIV "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you."

O, how I love Jesus!

Thank you Rev. Rogers for such a hot topic!!! I thank God for Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. When I think about Jesus, I am reminded of John15:5. It was about 7 years ago, I was reading my bible while laying on my living room floor in Georgia when this verse had new meaning to me. I have read this verse many times but the part of this verse that says " for apart from me(Jesus) you can do nothing" kept resonating in my mind. It was a profound moment of truth from that day forward. Now, I don't attempt to do anything without praying to Jesus. Now of course, I do some things without getting God's approval and when I do, He derails my efforts. I agree with your profound comments that " without Jesus there is no church and without Jesus there is no ministry". When I find myself thinking that I can handle things by myself, I am reminded of the constant battle between the Spirit and the flesh that the Apostle Paul mentioned in Romans 8. Thank you again for such a soul probing question.

All of your responses are so wonderful. It is Jesus that unites us, it is Jesus that connects us. Last night at an Interfaith prayer meeting. I had the opportunity to talk about Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I cannot talk about Jesus without smiling, I can not talk about jesus without being animated. So often I think Christians only focus on the crucifixation of Jesus, but the crucifixation and the resurrection have to be together for that is what makes Jesus Christ, the fact that he overcame death. There is a power and comfort in knowing that Jesus is the son of God, and that he is here for us. Let's keep talking about Jesus!

I tried to pass this article by after reading like I do all the rest but when it comes to Jesus I just could not pass without writing a remark. To say that Jesus is all the world to me is an understatement. Their is something about the name Jesus that will just make me stop, lift up holy hands and give Him the praise.

I love Him! I love Him because He first love me. While I was yet a sinner Christ died for me. That love! When you think that it was not the nails that held Him to the cross but love my soul rejoices.

There are not enough words in the english language to describe my love for Him. So I just say thank you Sir.

I just got on the board after a long period of time. But I did not want to pass up an opportunity to give my praise to Jesus. Without Him I can do nothing and with Him nothing is too difficult.

Sometimes I can be consumed by situations, and the scripture will come to me. "In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." And it this verse doesn't calm me down, the scripture that exhorts me to "consider Jesus who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame and is now seated at the right hand of God." I leave that pity party and concentrate on Jesus.

Rev Rogers as usual you are a gift. Thanks for reminding us to forget about ourselves and concentrate on him.

In Christ, Carmen
