Thanks, Mitch! Your putting my kids to sleep!

A few days ago Mitch had a post about napping on the couch, and speculated that it was great becouse of the extra contact, your body has with the back of the sofa.

My daughter, 7 had a bad dream the other night. She wanted me to sit with her, which I usually do, but because of this stupid back injury its painful for me to sit on her bed very loong. Mitches couch comment popped into my head and I took an extra comforter, rolled it up into a long tube and put it next to her, she was asleep in minents.

My son often lays awake tossing and turning-he's sleeping on a double bed. I did the same for him, taking several old blankets, rolling them up and put them on his bed, cutting down the surface area of his bed, giving him that extra soft contact. Also, we moved his bed along the wall and put his bookcase at the foot, so he has something solid on three sides-also thats where the roof slopes down so the ceiling isn't as high. His bed is now much less "exposed" (he says its cosier) He is falling asleep much easier.

I wouldn't have thought of that if Mitch hadn't been talking about napping on couches!

I totally agree with Mitch. When I was in college I had a bed next to a bolster and had to pull the bed out every night to get full use of it. It was very comfortable to sleep on half the bed up against the bolster. My son has his bed in an alcove and sleeps very well there. The other one must be different--he turns all kinds of ways in his full size bed. He has to totally tuck in all the sheets and blankets every morning just to make it.

We all love to roll over on the sofa and snooze here. My daughter (18 Yrs) prefers it to a bed.

Your welcome Kelly, try and make sure that sleepers do not sleep on their left side, it makes the heart work harder.

After my back surgeries the only way I could get comfortable was to sleep with a pillow to my back. I still do sometimes. Sleeping on the sofa with that back support is actually the most comfortable for me but my hubby ain't too fond of that so for his sake I sleep in our bed and when I'm having a lot of pain, I get out an extra pillow for my back. I never thought about trying that for kids though. Sounds like a great idea. My grandaughters both like to have their beds pushed up against the wall. Maybe that is why?

But if you are feeling nauseated, do lay on your left side, because it eases the nausea! (learned that when I was pregnant!)

Must be an organ pressure thing.
